I wanted to write a little bit about his first month for memories sake:
Week 1: We were definitely trying to adjust to getting no sleep. My recovery was rougher than expected. But, luckily we had lots of help from our families. We realized quickly how sweet our little Landie is. He only cried when his diaper is being changed or he is hungry....other than that he is one content peanut. He had his first doctor's appointment and everything checked out great. Landon weighed 7lbs 13oz. There was always someone there to hold him and I don't think he was put down once that first week home. We transitioned him from sleeping in his rocker to the bassinet. He woke up about every 2-3 hours to be changed and eat and slept almost all day everyday. He also had his first bath, cried a little at first, but loved it after that!
Week 2: We were able to get into a little more of a routine. I was still having issues with recovery, but luckily my mom was able to come out and help almost everyday. Travis was back to work which made things a little more challenging trying to figure out our sleep schedule. We switched Landon from Enfamil Ready to Feed to Enfamil Powder and it did not go over well. We went to the doctor for our 2 week check-up and Landon weighed 8lbs 3oz (back to birth weight:) and was 22.5 inches long. He was in the 93 percentile for height and 58 percentile for weight. The doctor suggested putting him back on ready to feed for a few more weeks until his system was more mature and could break down the powder. We decided to start transitioning him from Enfamil to Similac. This is where the tummy trouble started. The fussiness began due to gas. We called the doctor a few times and were assured that everything was fine and the gas was due to the formula change. I took Landon out for the first time by myself to my parents house. He still woke up to eat about every 2-3 hours throughout the night. He definitely recognizes our voices and searches for us when he hears us speak!:) We are all very surprised with how alert he is and how strong of a core he has had since birth. He can lift his head and move it all around no matter what position he is in.
Week Three:
Still transitioning onto the Similac and having gas/fussiness. We took him in the doctor and she suggested sticking with the Similac Ready to Feed for a few more days to give him enough time to adjust. He is now 8lbs 16oz and 23 inches long! Still in the same percentiles. This was a busy week for us! We had our newborn pictures taken, went to Evie and Val's First Birthday Party, Went to dinner at Los Tres Amigos (so mommy could get a Margarita:), and had a play date with Aunt Melissa and Cousin Brody. His cord fell off and we were given the green light to stop using Vaseline because his circumcision was all healed up. He started tummy time and loves it. Although, he likes to fall asleep on his stomach and suck his thumb or paci when he gets tired of lifting his head!;)
Week Four:
Another formula switch yet again. We are on Similac Sensitive and trying to get to the bottom of the tummy trouble. Went to the doctor to talk about his feeding and Landon was 9lbs 3ozs and 23 inches long...growing like a WEED. He is also wearing 3 month clothing...which is huge on him everywhere but in the length!;) He is giving us so many different expressions and is more alert during the day. Our nights are a little mixed because of the adjustment to the new formula...but he wants to sleep...the gas just makes him fuss and can keep him up:( We are hoping and praying this is the end of the road for the tummy trouble. It breaks my heart because I swear if this boy didn't have gas he would NEVER cry! Our next step is soy (which Travis was on as a baby) and if that ends the gas then it will be a blessing. This has also been a busy week for Landie. We had a play date with Cooper and Brody, celebrated his first Halloween, went to visit both sets of grandparents and had his first night away at my mom and dad's. I still can't wrap my mind around how fast his first month went! My favorite memory of his first month is how he stops crying as soon as I lay him on my chest, I love that he knows I am his mommy!;) I could have him sleep on me for hours and never get tired of holding him...besides pretty soon he will be too big to do it so I have to soak it up while I can...
